Habitat Participates in Global Handwashing Day

Habitat for Humanity Zambia was honored to participate in this year’s Global Handwashing Day commemoration activities under the theme “Unite for Universal Hand Hygiene” that took place today at Highlands Secondary School organized by Bremen Overseas Research and Development Association (BORDA) in partnership with the National Water Supply and Sanitation Council and the Lusaka City Council.

The event that was graced by the Ministry of Water and Sanitation Director, Eng. Abel Manangi, who represented the Ministry of Water and Sanitation Permanent Secretary Mr. Joe Kalusa. In his speech, Eng. Manangi asserted that the government is cognizant of the Sustainable Development Goals, Vision 2030 and the 8th National Development Plan for Zambia, all of which advocate for the greater need of universal water coverage in the country.  He further stated that the new dawn administration under the leadership of His Excellency President, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema has prioritized the Water Sector as evidenced by the increase in the budgetary allocation to the sector.
