SettlSettlements Programme in Zambia (UN-Habitat) held a continuum of land rights dialogue forum in Lusaka last week that brought together stakeholders in the land and housing sector. The meeting discussed the harmonization of land tenure security in relation to issuance of Certificates of Title under the National Land Titling Program and Occupancy License under the local authorities.
Officiating at the event, Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, Ms Daphne Chabu said that the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources in 2020 rolled out the National Land Titling Programme to issue Certificates of Title in all state land areas countrywide and one of the key success factors of this rollout was the need for local authorities to work with the Ministry on modalities of planning and payment for the regularization and issuance of Certificates of Titles.
Habitat for Humanity Zambia National Director, Ms Mathabo Makuta in her welcoming remarks stated that globally, we were in the last decade of implementation of the far-reaching Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and we need to ensure that Zambia is a shining example of realizing the Goals.
