Habitat in Partnership with Ministry of Lands Hands Over 128 Certificates of Title

Yesterday, Habitat for Humanity Zambia handed over a total of 128 Certificates of Title to some vulnerable partner families of Katondo community at an event held in Kabwe at Katondo Library.

Speaking during the event, Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources Permanent Secretary, Ms Daphne Chabu emphasized the need for landowners to obtain Certificates of Title to secure their land. She further stated that government through the National Land Titling Programme has issued more than 95,500 Certificates of Title.

Speaking at the same event, Central Member of Parliament, Ms Chrizoster Halwindi Phiri urged the beneficiaries of the Certificates of Title to view them as incentives granting them the ability to make potentially profitable investments on their land.

Additionally, His Worship the Mayor of Kabwe, Mr Partrick Chishala expressed gratitude and encouraged the recipients to take advantage of the gesture by Habitat for Humanity Zambia to alleviate household poverty having acquired documents with which they can generate income.

Meanwhile, Habitat for Humanity Zambia National Director Ms Mathabo Makuta remarked that the documents not only provided legal recognition and protection of property rights, but also delivered a sense of stability, empowerment, and hope for a better future to each recipient.

Habitat for Humanity Zambia with financial support from SELAVIP Foundation is implementing a 2-year project titled “Home Equals: Access to Security of Tenure.” The Project aims to support a total of 632 vulnerable households with Certificates of land Titles.
