Early this week, Habitat for Humanity Zambia was privileged to host the Highland Park United Methodist Church (HPUMC) Director of Outreach, Caroline Hazlett, Habitat for Humanity International Senior Specialist Affiliate Tithe, Amy Rognstad and Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity Senior Vice President of Development, Carmen Holmes.
The delegation conducted a familiarisation tour of the Habitat for Humanity Zambia Vulnerable Group Housing (VGH) project in Kabwe District. They were also honoured to pay a courtesy call on His Worship the Mayor of Kabwe, Mr Patrick Chishala. Additionlly, the delegation had an opportunity to tour other VGH projects in Mapepe, Chilanga District being supported by local and international funders.
Habitat for Humanity Zambia has been working with the HPUMC to alleviate housing poverty mainly through the provision of low-cost cost decent housing units and water points for vulnerable households in Makululu. With grants from the HPUMC, Habitat for Humanity Zambia has since constructed more than 140 housing units and 28 water points in Makululu community of Kabwe District. This financial year, 31 houses will be constructed and provision of 2 water point infrastructures in Makululu community with the HPUMC and Dallas Affiliate grant.
