How to get Involved
Habitat for Humanity Zambia has set aside one-day local build events which are spread throughout the year.
The local volunteer program relates to the ethos of Humanism that was emphasized by our First Republican and HFHZ patron. In his theory families are encouraged to help one another in bringing positive change. This program further encourages work without pay.
HFHZ offers various volunteer opportunities both at the individual and corporate levels.
Zambian residents may also help a family in need by constructing a home from slab to roof. This option allows 10-15 volunteers per team to work on site for half day or 1 day. Participants are guaranteed to work on all aspects of the house construction and experience the delight of a family when they receive keys to their new home.
Kenneth Kaunda’s Build
Kenneth Kaunda Build is a day when Habitat for Humanity Zambia cerebrates the life of the First Republican President. This event offers an opportunity for different institutions like yours to join hands for a good cause, show Good Will to the community and allow staff to volunteer in the actual house construction process.
Youth Build
Focuses on increasing youth participation in end poverty housing. Habitat for Humanity Zambia brings together youths of different status, race, age, gender and sex to contribute their time and channel their energy towards positive change.
As Habitat for Humanity Zambia we believe that through the youth build, an opportunity is created for young people to participate in ending poverty housing. Our Youth build event follows the National Youth Day which falls on the 12tth Day of March
Women’s Build
The Women build is an annual event through which Habitat for Humanity Zambia raises awareness on the importance of prioritizing women in the provision of decent shelter. The event provides an opportunity for prominent women in influential and decision-making positions to participate and add a voice to Habitat for Humanity Zambia’s work relating to providing shelter to widowed aged and vulnerable women in our communities.
Habitat for Humanity Zambia endeavors to work with the First Lady’s office to champion this event and support raise awareness on the importance of prioritizing women in the provision of decent shelter.
