Habitat Launches Home Equals in Zambia

Habitat for Humanity Zambia this morning launched the Home Equals campaign and joined the rest of the world in commemorating World Cities Day 2023 under the theme “Financing sustainable urban future for all” at a ceremony held in Lusaka. The ceremony was officiated by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary Mr Maambo Haamaundu who represented the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Hon. Gary Nkombo.
Home Equals is Habitat for Humanity’s five-year global advocacy campaign (2023-2028) that seeks to amplify the voices of people living in informal settlements and advance policies to ensure more equitable access to safe and habitable human settlements with a thematic focus on sustainable basic services, climate resilience, security of tenure and empowered participation.
Furthermore, Habitat for Humanity Zambia in partnership with the First National Bank (FNB) and Zambia Institute of Architects held a tree planting event at Munali Boys Secondary School that was meant to demonstrate the significance of tree planting in urban areas. The event was also officiated by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary Mr Maambo Haamaundu.
Other key dignitaries present at the two events include Her Worship the Mayor of Lusaka Ms, Chilando Chitangala Habitat for Humanity Zambia Patron, Chief Dr Mumena, Habitat for Humanity Zambia Board Chairperson, Dr Maureen Mwanawasa, Zambia Institute of Architects President, Mr Fidelis Kabwiri and Head Strategic Marketing and Communication Ms. Kasali Mwaba Kaingu.
